Anytime you are suffering with male pattern baldness or other conditions of this nature, you may be considering undergoing a hair replacement surgical procedure to correct the situation and restore your original appearance.  The replacement of lost or thinning hair using a surgical technique is rapidly becoming the most popular option on the market.  Additionally, hair replacement surgical techniques have been proven to be highly successful with most individuals who opt to have this procedure performed.

The extent of your hair loss will help you determine the hair replacement procedure that will work best for you.  So it is imperative that you do plenty of research before making the ultimate decision on which surgical procedure you want to undergo.  A simple search online will reveal hundreds of results for clinics and surgeons that are out there, which can make the decision-making challenging if not totally frustrating.  So what all goes into the decision making process?

Initially, you need to determine if hair replacement surgery is your best option or if it is even necessary.  A simple consultation with your family physician is an excellent starting point in the decision-making process as they may be able to determine if your hair loss has evolved to a point where this is the only option you have.  They may arrive at a couple of different conclusions based on your genetic history and other physical characteristics namely to have the surgery done or to try other alternatives first.

These other alternatives are prescribing Propecia or purchasing OTC Rogaine and trying them first.  The downside is that noticeable, positive results could take up to a year to occur.  Conversely, your physician may refer you to a hair replacement surgeon to discuss your case with.  This surgeon may recommend that you start a Propecia or Rogaine regimen prior to undergoing the surgical procedure and then resuming it once the surgery has been performed.  This is very common and the benefits are well known.

Although the hair replacement process may involve undergoing several procedures and considerable expense, you will benefit quicker with a surgical procedure than if you rely on either Propecia or Rogaine to achieve positive results.  Regardless of whether or not your personal physician and surgeon recommend surgery, the decision ultimately rests on your shoulders.  You need to research everything about this before jumping in to ensure that you are not making a costly decision and achieve the results you want.
