Why hair replacement surgery became so popular in the US

Granted, hair replacement surgery has always been what a person turns to for their hair loss since the more techniques came into play towards the end of the 20th century.  However, it wasn’t always that way.  During the 1930’s, the Japanese introduced this replacement technology to the world, but at that time, the hair replacement technique that surgeons was considered to be barbaric and exhibited numerous negative results.  My how things have changed and how technology has skyrocketed in this field.

A lot of understanding why these different technologies came into being is associated with the fact that surgeons initially were unprepared in the beginning.  The field was brand new and with the exception of very few surgeons (mostly in Japan and other parts of Asia), hair replacement was not initially welcomed in Europe, the UK, and the US.  No surgeon had been educated for this type of surgical procedure and it would take years for this type of surgery to catch up with.the global picture.

But that picture would soon change and it only took about 50 years.  The industry began with transplanting large punch-grafts of hair to the balding area which left a lot of noticeable scarring and unnatural looking hairlines as well as other negative results.  The industry involved from treating hair loss with hair replacement surgery as a cure-all approach to a more innovative and sophisticated solution to solving the problem.

It was when medical professionals who got involved in the industry realized that the way to correct hair loss using hair replacement surgical procedures was to first discover why the person was going bald.  As a result, there are a number of technical medical names now to describe the different conditions that this type of surgical procedure can correct and return you to the person you once were.

Additionally, and going beyond these medical terminologies that label these conditions, research has discover that hair loss does not always have physical causes.  Sometimes the causes are emotional or psychological while at other times they are behavioral.  And of course genetics has long since entered the picture which reasons that baldness is more likely to occur if there has been a family history of it.  Just remember that knowledge is power and the more you know about hair replacement, the better off you will be if it comes down to you undergoing that time of surgical procedure.
